All About Our Class

Flexible Seating

In our classroom we use implement flexible seating. A flexible seating classroom looks different from a traditional classroom that uses only desks and chairs. Items such as stools, stability balls, standing tables, etc. are used to allow students to have options for where they work and learn best. The goal of flexible seating is to give students choice and to help them find the type of seating that allows them to achieve their best learning. Their best learning spot may change throughout the day based on their needs or the work that they are being asked to do, so students will have the option of changing seats when needed. Students will be able to evaluate the choices available in order to choose the best spot for them to complete the task they are being asked to complete. Many classrooms have seen tremendous benefits since implementing flexible seating. It has empowered kids, increased student engagement, and has sparked less behavioral issues since the different seating options allow for movement while working. We are so excited to give students the opportunity of have choice in their seating, and we think that your children will be too!

Our Class Pets

We are very lucky to have two adorable guinea pigs in our classroom. Their names are Snickerdoodle and Mocha, and they are sisters. Snickerdoodle is white and tan; Mocha is solid dark brown. They are a valuable addition to our classroom because they will help us learn about the needs of animals, which is one of our standards in science this year. Our guinea pigs were born in January of 2017, making them about one and a half years old.
